OUR STORY

More than  16 million women working in healthcare were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic which was an unprecedented time of uncertainty, stress and what felt like an unsustainable pace. More than ever, women were faced with the challenge of balancing family, work while learning how to keep both safe from COVID-19 while keeping up with the acquisition of rapidly changing knowledge, guidelines and practices. The pandemic was isolating in so many ways.  In 2021 , Momentum Unlimited launched a North American Program called "Healthcare Heroes" to say "thank you" to Jewish mothers who worked in healthcare during the pandemic. This trip had a healthcare focus embedded within the program  with visits to medical centers and interactions with Israeli medical professionals. Dr. Traci Portnoff and Dr. Kimberly Fenton-Zeira were each nominated by their peers for a Healthcare Heroes trip in November of 2021. While there is never an ideal time to leave their patients and families behind, both Drs. Fenton-Zeira and  Portnoff made a decision to join the trip with Momentum. They experienced the transformational impact of connecting deeply with their Jewish roots along with other amazing moms, women in healthcare who were on a similar journey. It is a common Jewish belief that there are no coincidences. Kim and Traci were roommates in college and had spent a summer working together while creating a connection based upon a common interest in healthcare, and similar core values over a summer that they had never forgotten. After nearly 30 years, they found each other in Israel on this trip. It was then that the seeds for creating NeshamaCare were planted.  We have remained steadfast in our commitment to support Jewish women in Healthcare - both in the US and in Israel especially in these trying times.
